How I walked 15KM without any preparation?

I recently undertook a 15 KM walk, a journey that unfolded over 3.5 hours. Now, you might be thinking, "So what's the matter?"

Well, this is no ordinary walk—it's a story of doing physical exercise in stillness!

Over a decade ago, my introduction to the world of physical exercise took a unique path through the School of Ancient Wisdom in Bangalore. There, I attended Qi Gong sessions led by Madam Hanna, and my exploration of Qi Gong led me to a transformative exercise known as Zhan Zhuang – Standing like a tree. This practice, where the body finds stillness unlike any other exercise, became a pivotal part of my life.

Like Ekalavya of the Mahabharat, my journey of learning began. Two years of daily practice brought me to a point where I could stand in all five basic stillness postures.

The joy I found in this exercise translated into tangible benefits – healing, detoxification, and a surge of energy. Remarkably, I've remained almost entirely medicine-free for eight years as I approach my sixties.

However, a question lingered in my mind as I observed others running #marathons – Does the stillness practice aid in the movement of the body?

To find out, I decided to walk 20 KM on January 20th, with no prior preparation. The journey began at 3:30 PM, and at the 15 KM mark, a temporary heaviness in my legs signalled a pause. I concluded my expedition by using public transport to return home.

This unique blend of tranquility and endurance has made me reflect on the fascinating journey of self-awareness. If you're intrigued by blending stillness with movement, join me on this transformative exploration of Zhan Zhuang.

Let's connect and embark on this captivating journey together!
